It takes a village to raise a child, says an African proverb. This refers to the need of a solid support system and collective wisdom to raise a child. In today's urban societies and nuclear families, parents are faced with the responsibility of bringing up children without adequate support systems.
If a child is diagnosed with a special need - be it Learning Disability, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder or Down Syndrome - it is natural to feel lost, confused and overwhelmed.
All support services are rare to find in the same geographical area. This may result in children not getting early and adequate help.
Early intervention is crucial for many kids to catch up and thrive in school and in life overall.
Parents awareness and contribution plays a major role in shaping future outcomes for the child.
